Land Stewards 101 Program

Conservation and land management involves more than just protection! At Turkey Creek Nature Preserve, not only do we have the aquatic ecosystem of Turkey Creek, but we have 466 acres of forest habitat. Forest management focuses on managing vegetation, restoring ecosystems, reducing hazards, and maintaining forest health. Our Land Stewards 101 program aims to educate participants on what it takes to measure, maintain, and improve the health and diversity of a forest ecosystem.

Following a short lesson on forest management and forest biodiversity,  program participants will get the opportunity to discuss management techniques and to act as land stewards by identifying and measure trees.
